2010 GTEC Aqua Board Competition Winner is Announced!

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Through builders merchants FKS Buildbase, Lafarge Plasterboard has presented one lucky winner with a £3,000 bathroom in a national GTEC Aqua Board competition. The competition was open to anyone who bought Lafarge Plasterboard’s GTEC Aqua board from participating builders merchants over a given period.  The winner, Neil Weight, was selected from hundreds of entrants across the UK.

Lafarge Plasterboard’s GTEC Aqua Board is a gypsum based board for use in high humidity and wet areas, ranging from bathrooms to swimming pools.  It is ideal for use as a tile backing board or can simply be painted, giving the user extra flexibility in designing their bathroom, kitchen or wet room.
GTEC Aqua Board is also available for external applications and has already been used on a variety of high profile projects throughout the UK, reported to save up to 60% on traditional installation times.

Neil Weight, who owns Newbury-based NC Weight Heating and Plumbing and fits high-end bathrooms across Oxfordshire, commented: “I buy over 40 sheets of Lafarge’s GTEC Aqua Board a month because it is the best product for the job.  It’s easy to use and cost efficient.

“Until FKS Buildbase rang to tell me about my prize I’d forgotten about the draw.  It was great news as I don’t usually win anything.”

The prize was presented at FKS Buildbase in Newbury, Oxfordshire by Mike Cocks, at Lafarge Plasterboard and Steve Martin, Manager at FKS Buildbase in Newbury.
Mike Cocks said: “GTEC Aqua Board is popular among builders merchants and their customers as it provides outstanding water, mould and fungus resistance and is much easier to cut and handle than conventional cement based boards, with the user having to simply score and snap the board.
“Congratulations to Neil – we look forward to seeing the finished bathroom!”
